The challenge

Productivity is one of the most crowded categories on the App Store, and most planners compete by adding features: projects, tags, boards, integrations. The apps grow heavy, and the people who just wanted to plan their day quietly give up on them.

Kloki was our position in that argument: a planner should make today lighter, not busier. Tasks and habits belong together - one is what you do today, the other is who you are becoming - but almost every app splits them across two products or buries them in one bloated interface.

After shipping Tanaroom we also wanted to prove something about process: that our two-person core team could take a second product from concept to the App Store faster, by reusing the discipline - not the code - of the first one.

What we built

The design keeps tasks and habits side by side, each with its own space and its own logic. Tasks carry schedules, repeat rules, reminders, and alarms. Habits get the long game: 30-day challenges, streak tracking, and progress you can see grow - the chain you do not want to break.

We built the app in React Native with TypeScript, with local-first storage so the planner opens instantly and works without a connection. Notifications and alarms are engineered to fire exactly when they should - a planner that misses a reminder has failed at its one job.

Restraint was the product decision that shaped everything else. Every screen went through the same filter: does this help someone plan today or keep a habit alive? If not, it stayed out. The app ships in eight languages, stays small, and a daily motivational quote is the one flourish we allowed - a planner can be calm without being cold.

Kloki Planner is live on the App Store, free, with the same in-house pipeline behind it that we use for client work: design in Figma, short build iterations, QA on real devices, and store submission handled end to end.

Tasks and habits in one app

Separate sections with separate logic, so the daily plan and long-term routines stay organized without merging into one endless list.

Custom schedules and repeat rules

Anything you track can repeat on your own rhythm: daily, specific weekdays, or custom patterns that match real life.

Reminders and alarms

Notifications that fire on time, every time. The difference between a planner you trust and one you uninstall.

30-day habit challenges

A commitment mechanic that turns intentions into routines: pick a habit, hold it for 30 days, watch the chain grow.

Streaks and visible progress

Progress visualization keeps the cost of skipping a day visible - often all the motivation a habit needs.

Eight languages, thirty megabytes

Localized into eight languages and kept deliberately small and fast. Minimalism as engineering, not just aesthetics.
