Backend Development Services
We design and build reliable server-side systems: REST and GraphQL APIs, Node.js and NestJS services in TypeScript, and the data layer behind them. Built to stay fast and stable as your product grows.
A good backend is the part of your product nobody notices: requests are fast, data is consistent, and nothing falls over on a busy day. We build that layer for web and mobile products, as part of a full build or as a standalone service when you already have a frontend or an in-house team. Either way, you deal directly with the engineers doing the work.
What we do
API Design & Development
REST or GraphQL, chosen by how your clients consume data. We design predictable endpoints, sensible versioning, and authentication that holds up, then document the API so your frontend or mobile team can build against it without guessing.
Node.js & NestJS Services
Our core backend stack is Node.js and NestJS in TypeScript: clear module boundaries, typed contracts, and a codebase your next engineer can navigate. Where Python fits better, for scripts, automation, or data work, we use Python.
Databases & Data Modeling
PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB, picked for your data rather than fashion. We design the schema, plan migrations, and add Redis for caching and fast reads where it earns its place.
Queues & Event Streaming
Not everything belongs in a request cycle. We move heavy work into background jobs and build event-driven pipelines with Kafka, so imports, notifications, and processing run reliably without slowing your API down.
Subscriptions & Integrations
We connect your backend to the services your product depends on: subscription providers, authentication, analytics, maps, and messaging. Subscriptions are one of the complex features we build regularly, so billing edge cases get handled, not discovered.
Performance & Scaling
We profile slow endpoints, fix expensive queries, and add caching where it counts. With Docker and Kubernetes on AWS or Azure, the service can scale horizontally, and Grafana dashboards show you what it is doing in production.
How we work
Backend projects at OKET follow the same six steps as everything we build, adapted to server-side engineering.
- 01
Discovery
We discuss your product, your current setup, and what the backend needs to handle: clients, data, load, and integrations.
- 02
Research
We review your existing code and API contracts if you have them, then choose the architecture, stack, and data stores that fit.
- 03
Design
We design the API, the data model, and the service structure, and agree on the contracts before implementation starts.
- 04
Development
We build the services with Node.js and NestJS in TypeScript, in short iterations your frontend can test against early.
- 05
Testing
We test endpoints, edge cases, and behavior under load, and verify the API against its real clients with automated test coverage.
- 06
Launch
We deploy with Docker, set up CI/CD and monitoring, hand over documented code, and stay available after release.
Why OKET
Your backend is architected by a founder who builds server-side systems himself, including the hard parts: authentication, subscriptions, chats, and third-party integrations. You message him directly.
Fast decisions and fast delivery. A small team means the person who understands your API is the person who changes it.
Full flexibility: hire us for a standalone backend, plug us into your in-house team, or hand us the whole product.
A transparent workflow from day one: you always know what is being built and why.

FAQ
We already have a frontend or an in-house team. Can you build just the backend?
Yes, and it is a common setup for us. We agree on the API contract with your frontend or mobile developers, build the server side, and document it so integration is straightforward. You can bring us in for the whole backend or one specific part of it.
Backend only, or full-stack?
Hire us for backend when you already have a frontend team and need a solid API, database, and infrastructure behind it. If you want one team owning the whole product - frontend, backend, and deployment - that is our Full-Stack Development service.
How much does backend development cost?
It depends on scope. A focused API for one app and an event-driven platform with multiple integrations are very different projects. We scope the work in a free consultation and agree on the deliverables before development starts, with a transparent workflow from there on.
How do you choose between PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL?
By looking at your data and how you query it. Relational data with transactions usually points to PostgreSQL or MySQL, while flexible document-shaped data can fit MongoDB, with Redis alongside as a cache. We recommend a setup after discovery and explain the reasoning, so you are never locked into a choice you do not understand.
Can you take over a backend built by another team?
Yes. We start by reading the code and mapping the architecture, then agree on priorities: fixing what is broken, speeding up what is slow, or adding what is missing. We extend what works instead of pushing a rewrite you may not need.
Do you build subscription and billing logic?
Yes. We integrate subscription providers and build the backend logic around them: plans, entitlements, renewals, webhooks, and the states in between. Subscriptions are one of the complex features we build for mobile and web products, so the edge cases are planned for from the start.
